How to authenticate this pressing
Specific verification cues for this exact variant.
The catalog number 1C 062-04 433 Y, or rather the prefix "1C," allows you to easily identify the country of origin. "1C" denotes West Germany in the EMI numbering system (e.g., "5C" denotes the Netherlands).
On the left side of the label, below the inscription "STEREO," is the "GEMA" logo in a rectangular frame. GEMA is the German collective rights management organization. Its presence on the label is characteristic of German releases, and just as STEMRA indicated the Netherlands, GEMA indicates Germany.
The label also features the German word "Seite" instead of the English "Side." On the right, the side designations read "Seite 1" and "Seite 2," not "Side 1" and "Side 2." This is a subtle hint of its German origin.
Historical context & other notes
The first German stereo pressing released in Germany in late May 1970 with catalog number 1C 062-04 433 Y had a dark green Apple label on side 1 and a gray Apple label on side 2. To someone less familiar with the subject, the gray label is not easily distinguishable from the white one.
