Why this pressing matters
Phil Spector's version of "Let It Be" was never released as a mono mix. The album was edited and released exclusively in stereo. Meanwhile, the Colombian market received "Let It Be" in two versions, designated with catalog numbers: T. 100526 for the mono version and E-T. 100526 for the stereo version.
The very existence of a Colombian mono version of an album that was never originally released in mono is the most peculiar feature of this release. It points to a market where, in 1970, there were enough buyers for such a release for a local licensee to consider it profitable. Since I don't own this copy, I can't definitively determine the nature of this Colombian mono version. Since there was no mono source mix, the Colombian mono version couldn't have been a true, original mono version, like the mono version of "Sgt. Pepper's" album. Most likely it was a folddown, i.e. a monophonic combination of the stereo version's channels, made for the cheaper variant.
Historical context & other notes
The Colombian mono edition retains a format that the official release of Let It Be is largely unfamiliar with, and does so in a market that appears sparsely and fragmented in mainstream collectors' guides. It's therefore of interest to the collector documenting peripheral, local versions of the canonical album, rather than to the collector chasing high valuations.
