Here is a list of The Beatles albums released in the GDR (German Democratic Republic) between 1965 and 1985 by the Amiga label. They were typically released in small print runs, usually around 10,000 copies, as licenses were granted for that volume of production.
Albums (LP)
Solo Albums and Compilations
In the 1980s, the Amiga label decided to release albums by former Beatles members. In the case of Paul McCartney, for some reason, they decided against releasing the Wings Greatest compilation, which had been released in Bulgaria (1978) and Poland (1979). Instead, they prepared their own selection of songs. From John Lennon’s repertoire, they chose his last album recorded during his lifetime, *Double Fantasy*, and the compilation *Shaved Fish*.
In the GDR, other albums were also available for purchase, including McCartney’s London Town and Flowers in the Dirt, but they were only available for foreign currency vouchers or convertible currency at Intershop stores and kiosks (the equivalent of Poland’s Pewex). Starting April 16, 1979, East German citizens could exchange money for foreign currency checks at the bank to shop at Intershop, but due to the prices, the availability of these albums was severely limited, and since they were also pressed in the FRG (West Germany), they are not included in any discographies of The Beatles in the GDR.
