Since this is my Top 10 list, there will be plenty of Beatles songs on it, with exactly three in the top ten. “Yesterday” was written by Paul McCartney and first appeared on the album *Help!* (in August 1965), except in the United States, where it was released as a single in September. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. It then appeared on the British EP “Yesterday” in March 1966 and debuted in the U.S. on the album “Yesterday and Today.”
As usual with McCartney, it’s a sad song—but what a song!
