Historical context & other notes
Between 1988 and 1992, Gong released four Dire Straits LPs, including this compilation. Being a sister company to its parent label, Hungaroton, it operated from 1985 to 1998, specializing in the distribution of licensed foreign records (primarily English). Before Gong was founded, this was handled by Pepita, and before 1970, by Qualiton. After the fall of communism in 1989, the label focused on releasing original material in Hungarian.
