How to authenticate this pressing

Specific verification cues for this exact variant.

First release is easily recognizable by the advertisement for other "Vee Jay" records on back-cover. It was later withdrawn.

There is also a method to identify the genuine pressing by label examination (found on Discogs):
☞ If title and artist are separated on the label by the spindle hole, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the label has a flat textured rainbow/colorband design, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the dead wax after the last track is wider than an inch, it's a counterfeit
☞ If the label is all black and on glossy paper, it's a counterfeit.
☞ Any significant loss of color in the rainbow on the label (especially green) indicates a counterfeit

Historical context & other notes

Yoko Ono states on her website: "British albums typically had 14 songs, 12 was the magic number in America. To get down to a dozen songs, Vee-Jay deleted Please Please Me and Ask Me Why, the group’s first U.S. single. With Please Please Me dropped from the record, there was no reason for Vee- Jay to name the album Please Please Me. Instead, the album was named Introducing The Beatles, which was appropriate because Vee-Jay was, in fact, introducing the Beatles to the American public."

Introducing... The Beatles was released just ten days before Capitol's Meet the Beatles!. This timing created fierce competition, with Capitol's record reaching No. 1 on the charts while "Introducing... The Beatles" peaked at number. 2. However, due to the legal dispute over rights to two songs, Vee- Jay had to release a new version of the album just a month after, swapping out songs “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” for “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me.”
