A blues-rock ballad written by David Coverdale and Ritchie Blackmore, originally released in 1974 on Deep Purple’s album *Stormbringer*. Unfairly somewhat forgotten, it is one of rock’s greatest “sad songs.” If the Scorpions had recorded it, it would certainly have been a huge hit.
“It’s one of my favorite songs. It has some medieval chords,” said Ritchie Blackmore about the song in Jerry Bloom’s biography.
