Why this pressing matters
Toshiba/EMI Japan issued this release as part of Japan's "Country Flag" OBI / EAS re-issue series of the Beatles Japanese LP catalog which began in 1976. This is title number 29 in the series, with UK flag obi. Album was pressed from a copy of a UK master, so the channels are not reversed (as in case of the US version),
Historical context & other notes
From the main release
Being a double album, Rock 'n' Roll Music contains 28 of the band's songs, focusing mainly on faster rock'n'roll classics and covers. At the same time it was the first Beatles album to include "I'm Down", which had previously only been available as the B-side of the "Help!" single.
The sale of the album greatly benefited from the wave of Beatles nostalgia that was boosted by Paul McCartney's "Wings over America" tour in the summer of 1976.
