Historical context & other notes

From the main release

Sixth and final studio album of Dire Straits. Released in September 1991 by Vertigo Records internationally, and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The album hit the stores six years and four months after their record-smashing, multi-million-seller of 1985, Brothers In Arms, and was followed by an exhaustive world tour. On Every Street debuted at No.1 on the UK chart the week before its US entry, replacing Paul Young’s singles collection From Time To Time at the top and eventually sold over ten million copies worldwide.
