Why this pressing matters
German export pressing for the Swiss record club Ex Libris. Original copies of the first pressing from August 1965 are extremely rare. There is a spelling error of the track A6 "Your'e" instead of "You're".
How to authenticate this pressing
Specific verification cues for this exact variant.
"Special Edition" is printed on labels below the catalog number and on the front cover below the logo and "stereo" mark.
The easiest way to determine a counterfeit from the original 1965 release is the "ST33" indicator on the labels. The counterfeit record has the modern type of the indicator (round '33') whereas the original pressing has sharp '33' ciphers. Original copies also came with printed inners advertising other albums.
Historical context & other notes
From the main release
Help! is The Beatles' fifth studio album and the soundtrack to their second feature length film. It was released eight months after Beatles For Sale and went immediately to no.1 in the British charts remaining there for a total of nine weeks. The 14-track record includes 10 Lennon-McCartney compositions, 2 from George, and 2 covers (“Act Naturally” and “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”). The first side of the album contains songs from the film. A modified version of the album, containing only songs from the film, was released in the US on August 13, 1965.
