Historical context & other notes
From the main release
Meet the Beatles! was the the first Beatles album to be issued by Capitol Records but the second released in the US. It was issued n 20 January 1964, ten days after the Vee-Jay's Introducing The Beatles. It topped the popular album chart on 15 February 1964.
There was just one song – "I Saw Her Standing There" – which appeared on both Introducing The Beatles and Meet The Beatles!. The Capitol album also contained the hit song "I Want to Hold Your Hand", its UK B-side "This Boy".
Because Vee-Jay used twelve songs from Please Please Me, Capitol Records filled the rest of the Meet the Beatles! with nine songs released on With The Beatles.
