The rim text allows you to identify the origin of the record: "HECHO EN VENEZUELA POR SONIDOINDUSTRIAL, C.A. PARA DISTRIBUIDORA SONOGRÁFICA, C.A. BAJO LICENCIA DE PHONOGRAM INT'L". This is the Venezuelan licensing formula: "pressed in Venezuela by Sonido Industrial, C.A. for Distribuidora Sonográfica, C.A. under license from Phonogram International". Sonido Industrial was the main Venezuelan pressing plant from the late 1970s to the 1990s, and Distribuidora Sonográfica was the Venezuelan distribution arm of the Phonogram (Philips) corporation. The abbreviation "C.A." (Compañía Anónima) is the specifically Venezuelan equivalent of the Spanish "S.A." (Sociedad Anónima), used exclusively in Venezuela and Ecuador. In other Spanish-speaking Latin American countries, "S.A." is encountered (Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Chile). The mere presence of two "C.A."s in a single sentence practically excludes other countries in the region.
To the right of the tracklist, in small print: "Depósito Legal nb-85-0822." Depósito Legal is the Venezuelan registration system, operated since 1928 by the Instituto Autónomo Biblioteca Nacional in Caracas. Every medium published in Venezuela (book, magazine, film, record) must be assigned this number, and it must be included in the print. Importantly for us, the format "nb-85-0822" deciphers precisely: "nb" is short for nota bibliográfica (bibliographic entry), "85" indicates the year 1985, and "0822" is the sequence number in the register for that year. This identifies the country of issue (Venezuela), the year of issue (1985, according to the UK yearbook), and the place in the annual sequence of the register. The Depósito Legal system in this form does not exist in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, or Chile, so the mere presence of this designation precisely indicates Venezuela.

Brothers In Arms was one of the two most important rock albums of the 1980s in terms of the transition from vinyl to CD. The other one was Thriller. CD players were bought for these albums in 1985 and 1986.
Brothers In Arms became the first album to sell more than one million copies on CD worldwide and the first to sell more copies on CD than on vinyl. It sold over thirty million copies globally by the end of the decade. It held the number one spot in the UK charts for fourteen weeks and nine weeks in the US. Vertigo and Philips jointly financed a tour spanning 248 shows in 177 cities, with the CD format as the main visual element of the tour. For promotion, the world's first single in CD format was released in 1985 (Vertigo 884 285-2, pressed in West Germany by Polygram), containing a long version of the title track and excerpts from the album.
