Historical context & other notes
From the main release
A Hard Day's Night was the third studio album by the Beatles, released on 10 July 1964. Side one contains songs from the soundtrack to their film of the same name. The arrangements on that album are more complex than the material from Please Please Me or With The Beatles. This was possible also because A Hard Day’s Night was recorded on four-track tape, allowing for higher-quality recording of rhythm tracks. Unlike the Beatles’ first two albums, all 13 tracks on ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ were written by Lennon and McCartney. What's really unique, “Can’t Buy Me Love” was recorded in Pathé Marconi Studios in Paris – in the same session, the band recorded German versions of “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. The rest of the album’s songs were recorded at the EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London.
