"She Loves You" was the first Beatles song to sell a million copies in the UK alone and remained the best-selling single there for the next fourteen years, until it was surpassed by "Mull of Kintyre" by Paul McCartney and Wings.
Although it became a massive hit, the song did not originally appear on any LP in the UK. In 1963, it was released exclusively as a single, just like “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” because the Beatles’ early singles typically did not appear on albums released in the UK. In the US, the song appeared on the album *The Beatles’ Second Album*, released by Capitol Records in 1964.
“She Loves You” was one of two songs recorded in German (the other was “I Want to Hold Your Hand”). Although the Beatles didn’t like the idea, they went ahead with it anyway. The track was released under the title “Sie Liebt Dich.” Since the vocals couldn’t be separated from the music, the Beatles had to re-record it.
Although George Martin claimed that the world had changed irrevocably when the song “Love Me Do” was released, “She Loves You” went down in history as one of the most famous, simple, and catchy love songs.
The song also appeared in the film A Hard Day’s Night, but ultimately did not make it onto the album of the same title.
