In 1982, the Hungarian pop-rock record label Pepita (part of the Hungaroton group) was the only label in Eastern Europe to release the Beatles’ first LP, Please Please Me, and today this record is considered quite rare by collectors. I deliberately omit Yugoslavia, where a Parlophone edition of the same album was released in 1978, because that country’s economic and cultural relationship to the West was fundamentally different than, for example, Hungary.
The Hungarian album Please Please Me was released in stereo with the catalog number SLPXL 17744.
The cover is identical to the original British one, except that it has a much worse print quality (especially on the back), the Emitex advertisement is missing on the second page, and the footer with publishing rights and the publication date has been modified.
On the first page in the upper right corner of the Hungarian edition there is a catalogue number and a stereo format indication, while on the original cover there is only mono or stereo (in different sizes, depending on the pressing).

Matrix Numbers
Since the print run for this publication was small, only one matrix was used for the first side and two for the second:
Page 1: SLPXL 17744-A L P MG
Page 2: SLPXL 17744-B I. P MG or SLPXL 17744-B II. P MG
