Why this pressing matters

Between 1964 and 1965 Odeon tried to "test the waters" by releasing stereophonic editions of some albums in Brazil. They all had the same sleeves produced for the mono copies, but with a yellow "Odeon gravação estereofônica" ("stereophonic recording") sticker on the front cover. As few people in Brazil had stereo sound systems back then, these records weren't produced in big quantities and also didn't sell much.

Historical context & other notes

From the main release

Beatles For Sale was released on 4th December, 1964 - just 21 weeks after A Hard Day's Night. It was The Beatles’ fourth album release in less than two years. The album had been recorded in seven days, scattered between August and October, when the band’s schedule was crammed with stage performances in the UK, Canada and the US, as well as radio and television work. Because it was such a rush job, band reverted to the 1963 formula putting on the record eight original songs and six covers.

Beatles For Sale hasn't been released as a regular album in the US until 1987. In its place Capitol released Beatles '65 which featured eight songs from Beatles For Sale, plus the A and B-side of 'I Feel Fine' and 'I'll Be Back' from the UK 's A Hard Day's Night album.
