„Brothers in Arms” original UK edition

„Brothers in Arms” is the peak achievement of Dire Straits, and also the only album by Mark Knopfler and his team that was included in the prestigious list of the 500 best albums in the history of music by RollingStone magazine.

The album was released in May 1985 under the catalog number VERH 25, containing huge hits such as „Money For Nothing”, „Walk Of Life” and „Brothers in Arms”. The circulation of this disc was large, and the first (or rather early) edition can be identified, among others, by the silver sticker that was stuck to the cover to promote the album (people browsing the vinyls in the store could recognize the songs that were broadcast on radio stations at that time). It so happens that I happened to find a copy of the first edition from the first edition that hit the stores.

Cover

The original British pressing was issued in a matte cover. The silver round sticker on the front contains the first two songs that were promoted from this album in 1985, i.e. „Money For Nothing” and „So Far Away”. This particular sticker suggests that this was a very early release of the album. The barcode on the back has a distinctive pink background.

Record Sleeve

The CD was placed in a cardboard envelope with song lyrics (quite legible) on one side.

Labels

The „Brothers in Arms” album has one of the prettiest labels I have ever seen, easily recognizable and perfectly reflecting the character of the music composed by Mark Knopfler.
